There’s Money in that Technology

Research and development isn’t cheap. Company officials know they have to invest, and it seems those willing to commit heavily reap the biggest rewards when it comes time to show off the newest products.

ASIS provides the perfect showplace for R&D. Security companies will be only too happy to share some of your time while attending the tradeshow next week in Dallas.

Billed as the One Destination for Your Security Solutions, this year’s event will be like no other. I’ve already mentioned research and development, and I’m certain there will be plenty of new technology. But the one thing that catches my interest is the Wednesday keynote from Chesley B. Sullenberger, III.

You’ll remember Captain Sullenberger from his heroic act and determination to save the lives of his passengers on Jan. 15, 2009. Sullenberger was captain of US Airways ill-fated flight 1519. He successfully carried out an emergency landing on the Hudson River. Not one soul perished.

A hero? Yes, and I believe 155 people on board that flight would agree.

This is a perfect way to start the morning of the second day of ASIS. There will be, of course, plenty of time for attend educational sessions, coupled with booth visits, lunches and dinners. ASIS 2010, especially in Dallas, should be an exciting event for all of use in the security industry.
